The Paul Jackson Fund Inc. is a tax-exempt charity that serves as a resource of last resort for individuals and families facing a financial crisis due to a debilitating "long term" illness or disability. The Fund provides grants to qualifying individuals in the tri-state area (NJ, CT & NY) for health - related needs, as well as for family and household needs. Applications are accepted and evaluated year-round by The Fund. Grants are awarded on an as-needed basis.
The Fund enjoys a broad-based grass roots support. Almost all of our funds come from individual
and corporate contributors. We thank all of our supporters who give what they can to make a positive change in the lives of those in crisis. In addition, our supporters have enlisted help from the corporate community in the form of grants, matching contributions and in-kind gifts as a means of giving back to the communities they serve.
Why the Paul Jackson Fund
A simple, personal, and compassionate approach to giving is what differentiates The
Fund from other philanthropic concerns. The Fund has uniquely maintained its original mission, yet expanded its sphere of support. One of the Fund's unique characteristics is its Board's philosophy of 100% participation and 100% volunteerism. Virtually all expenses are donated services. Administrative expenses are held to
under 10%.
The Fund's History
The Fund's president, Paul Jackson, knows from personal experience how important financial aid can be in times of medical crisis. As a young man of 28, Paul was left paralyzed and unable to walk after surgery to remove an intramedullary spinal cord tumor. When his rehabilitation costs were not covered by insurance, family and friends launched a fundraising effort.
Paul and his family have a strong history of community involvement. The Paul Jackson Fund was started to help Paul with his medical expenses. Today it helps the broader community.
